Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) – Seattle, WA

Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,220–$2,340
- Location: Seattle, Washington
- Employment Type: Travel RN contract

- Contract Duration: 26 weeks
- Shift: Night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
- Shifts per Week: 4
- Shift Duration: 12 hours
- Weekly Hours: 36
- Unit Environment: High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit with approximately 15–17 patients per day and more than 500 births per month
- Scheduling: Posted approximately every six weeks based on unit needs; weekend and holiday coverage is required
- Floating: May float to postpartum, antepartum, NICU for helping-hands support, or other nearby units and campuses based on competency and operational needs
Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse experience
- High-risk obstetric nursing experience and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Current Registered Nurse license; an active compact license must be in hand when applicable
- Current BLS and NRP certifications
- ACLS and AWHONN Advanced or Intermediate certification preferred
- Recent experience with Epic charting and electronic fetal monitoring
- Demonstrated competency in circulating for Cesarean sections and providing newborn care during delivery
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and commitment to AWHONN-informed practice
Travel RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients throughout labor, delivery, and immediate recovery
- Support high-risk antepartum patients and assist with vaginal and Cesarean deliveries
- Function as the baby nurse during delivery and continue newborn care until transfer to postpartum
- Perform newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, identification and security banding, cord care, thermoregulation, and routine newborn medications and treatments
- Administer and monitor medications and therapies including magnesium sulfate, insulin infusions, heparin, Pitocin, antihypertensives, and epidural-related treatments
- Recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, hemorrhage, shock, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and other obstetric emergencies
- Use external fetal monitoring and electronic fetal monitoring systems to support safe clinical decision-making
- Provide patient education, breastfeeding support, pain assessment and management, and postpartum care
- Accurately document care in Epic and collaborate with physicians, midwives, anesthesia, respiratory services, pharmacy, social services, and other members of the care team
- Float to related units when needed while maintaining safe, evidence-based care within scope of practice
