Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) – Seattle Travel Nursing Job

Experienced Labor & Delivery RNs can join a high-acuity, high-volume travel nursing contract in Seattle, Washington.   • Shift: Nights, approximately 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.; 36 hours per week
  • Unit Profile: High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit with approximately 15–17 patients per day, 31 rooms/beds, four operating rooms, and approximately 500–600 deliveries per month
  • Scheduling: Schedules are posted approximately every six weeks; weekend and holiday coverage is required, including three of five designated winter holidays
  • Floating: May float to Antepartum, Postpartum, or other appropriate units; occasional coverage at nearby campuses or providing support in the NICU may be required

Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Washington; compact license must be in hand when applicable
  • At least one year of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience
  • Recent high-risk Labor & Delivery experience in a fast-paced, high-acuity hospital environment
  • Current BLS and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications
  • Electronic fetal monitoring and Epic electronic health record charting experience
  • Demonstrated ability to circulate for Cesarean sections and provide comprehensive newborn care during delivery
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and assigned floating requirements
  • ACLS and AWHONN Advanced or Intermediate certification preferred

Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care for patients experiencing routine, complex, and high-risk labor and delivery
  • Monitor fetal and maternal status using electronic fetal monitoring and promptly recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Support vaginal deliveries, Cesarean sections, operative deliveries, inductions, and management of obstetric emergencies
  • Circulate for Cesarean sections, including preparation, intraoperative support, and coordination with the surgical team
  • Function as the baby nurse during delivery and continue newborn care until transfer to postpartum
  • Complete newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, identification and security procedures, cord care, temperature management, and eye and Vitamin K administration
  • Manage therapies and medications such as Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, insulin, heparin, antihypertensives, and other infusions according to clinical orders and policy
  • Provide antepartum and postpartum support, including couplet care, breastfeeding education, postpartum assessments, and management of complications
  • Assist with high-risk procedures and care needs such as amnioinfusion, epidural management, hemorrhage response, and neonatal resuscitation
  • Collaborate with providers, midwives, respiratory services, pharmacy, social services, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to promote excellent patient outcomes
