Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Assignment in Seattle, WA
Join a high-acuity Labor & Delivery nursing team in Seattle, Washington. This vibrant Pacific Northwest city offers waterfront scenery, diverse cultural experiences, and convenient access to outdoor recreation. This 26-week travel nurse assignment is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to provide high-risk obstetric care, labor and delivery nursing, and immediate newborn care alongside a multidisciplinary clinical team.
Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Seattle, Washington 98122 — a vibrant Pacific Northwest community known for its waterfront scenery, cultural offerings, and access to outdoor recreation
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,220–$2,340
- Assignment Type: Travel nursing contract
- Start Date: October 19, 2026
- End Date: April 19, 2027
- Duration: 26 weeks
- Schedule: Night shifts, typically 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
- Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Nursing Unit: High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery
- Unit Profile: Approximately 15–17 patients per day, 31 rooms, 31 beds, and approximately 550 births per month
- Scheduling: Schedule posted every six weeks based on unit needs; weekend and holiday coverage required as scheduled
Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; compact license must be in hand when applicable
- At least 1 year of Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- Recent experience caring for high-risk obstetric patients in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting
- Required certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and AWHONN Advanced or Intermediate certification preferred
- Current Epic charting experience, including electronic fetal monitoring documentation
- Demonstrated ability to circulate for Cesarean sections
- Ability to function as the newborn nurse during deliveries and continue newborn care until transfer to postpartum
- Flexibility to float to postpartum or antepartum units and, when needed, provide support in other appropriate clinical areas
- Availability to work assigned weekends and holidays
Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and the immediate postpartum period.
- Care for high-risk antepartum and laboring patients, including those requiring magnesium sulfate, insulin infusions, heparin, and other high-acuity therapies.
- Recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and changing maternal or fetal conditions.
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, operative deliveries, Cesarean sections, forceps or vacuum-assisted births, and other obstetric procedures.
- Circulate for Cesarean sections, maintaining patient safety, sterile technique, documentation, and coordination with the surgical team.
- Serve as the newborn nurse during delivery, completing Apgar scoring, newborn assessments, identification and security procedures, cord care, thermoregulation, and transition support.
- Administer newborn medications and treatments, including erythromycin eye care and Vitamin K injections.
- Provide care for newborns until transfer to postpartum and support couplet-care needs as appropriate.
- Manage fetal monitoring, IV therapy, epidurals, oxytocin, terbutaline, pain control, hemorrhage response, and other Labor & Delivery interventions.
- Support patients and families with education, breastfeeding guidance, emotional support, and safe-transition planning.
- Collaborate with providers, midwives, respiratory services, pharmacy, social services, rapid response teams, and other members of the care team.
- Float to postpartum or antepartum assignments when needed and practice within demonstrated competencies.
