Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) – Seattle, WA Travel Contract

Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Location: Seattle, Washington
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,220–$2,340
  • Assignment Dates: October 19, 2026–April 19, 2027
  • Contract Duration: 26 weeks
  • Schedule: 36 hours per week; typically three shifts
  • Shift: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
  • Unit: High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery
  • Unit Volume: Approximately 15–17 patients per day and 550 births per month
  • Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend as needed
  • Holiday Coverage: Holiday coverage may be required
  • Floating: May float to Antepartum, Postpartum, NICU for helping-hands support, or other appropriate units and nearby campuses based on patient care needs

Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements

  • At least 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse experience
  • High-risk Labor & Delivery experience in a fast-paced, high-acuity obstetric nursing environment
  • Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Washington; active compact licensure is accepted
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • ACLS and AWHONN Advanced or Intermediate certification preferred
  • Epic charting experience required, including electronic fetal monitoring documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to function as the baby nurse during delivery and provide newborn care until transfer to postpartum
  • Experience circulating for Cesarean sections is required
  • Strong knowledge of fetal monitoring, newborn assessment, postpartum hemorrhage, magnesium sulfate, insulin infusions, and anticoagulation therapy
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and varied unit schedules as needed

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and immediate postpartum care
  • Care for high-risk obstetric patients, including those with pregnancy-induced hypertension, hemorrhage risk, multiple births, and other complex diagnoses
  • Assist with vaginal deliveries, high-risk deliveries, Cesarean sections, and operative procedures
  • Circulate for Cesarean sections and support safe, efficient operating-room workflow
  • Serve as the baby nurse during deliveries, including newborn assessment, thermoregulation, identification and security procedures, cord care, and administration of routine newborn medications such as vitamin K and eye prophylaxis
  • Perform APGAR assessments and recognize changes in maternal or fetal condition
  • Use external fetal monitoring and respond appropriately to abnormal fetal heart-rate patterns
  • Administer and monitor therapies such as Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, insulin infusions, anticoagulation therapy, and other ordered medications
  • Provide breastfeeding and lactation support, patient education, pain management, and emotional support
  • Document care accurately in Epic and collaborate with physicians, midwives, respiratory services, pharmacy, social services, and other members of the care team
  • Float to appropriate areas when needed while maintaining safe, patient-centered care
