Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) – Seattle, WA Contract

Join a high-acuity Labor & Delivery team as a travel RN in Seattle, Washington, and provide expert obstetric nursing care during life-changing moments. This on-site travel nursing assignment is ideal for an experienced L&D Registered Nurse who is confident caring for high-risk patients, assisting with deliveries, circulating for Cesarean sections, and providing essential newborn care.

Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Location: Seattle, Washington 98122
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,160–$2,270
  • Assignment Start: October 19, 2026
  • Assignment End: April 19, 2027
  • Duration: 26-week travel nursing contract
  • Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts, approximately 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
  • Schedule: Unit-based scheduling posted approximately every six weeks; weekend and holiday coverage required as needed
  • Unit: High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery
  • Unit Capacity: 31 rooms and 31 beds; approximately 15–17 patients per day and more than 500 births per month
  • Operating Rooms: 4
  • Documentation: Epic electronic fetal monitoring
  • Floating: May float to Antepartum, Postpartum/Mother-Baby, NICU for helping-hand support, or other appropriate units; occasional support at nearby sister campuses may be required

Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse license in Washington State or an active compact RN license in hand at submission
  • At least 1 year of Labor & Delivery RN experience
  • High-risk Labor & Delivery experience in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
  • Experience serving as the baby nurse during delivery and continuing newborn care until transfer to postpartum
  • Circulating experience for Cesarean sections is required
  • Proficiency with newborn assessments, Apgar scoring, cord care, identification and security banding, eye prophylaxis, vitamin K administration, and thermoregulation
  • Experience with electronic fetal monitoring and Epic documentation
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications preferred
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and assigned floating shifts as needed
  • Strong collaboration, communication, prioritization, and clinical judgment skills

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery, and recovery
  • Care for high-risk antepartum and intrapartum patients, including those requiring insulin, heparin, magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, and other therapies
  • Recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and changes in maternal or fetal condition
  • Assist with vaginal, operative, high-risk, multiple, forceps, and vacuum-assisted deliveries
  • Circulate for Cesarean sections and other obstetrical procedures
  • Function as the baby nurse during delivery and provide newborn care through transfer to postpartum
  • Complete newborn assessments, Apgar scores, cord sampling and care, eye care, vitamin K injections, identification procedures, and thermoregulation
  • Support maternal recovery following Cesarean delivery, general anesthesia, epidural anesthesia, and postpartum hemorrhage
  • Provide education and support related to breastfeeding, lactation, pain management, and postpartum care
  • Document assessments, interventions, fetal monitoring, and outcomes accurately in Epic
  • Collaborate with physicians, midwives, respiratory services, pharmacy, social services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
  • Float to applicable maternal-child health areas or nearby units while maintaining safe, high-quality patient care
