Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Travel Nursing Contract in Seattle, WA

Join a high-acuity Labor & Delivery team as a travel Registered Nurse in Seattle, Washington. This 13-week nursing assignment offers the opportunity to provide expert care during high-risk deliveries and support newborn care in a fast-paced, high-volume hospital environment. Seattle is a vibrant Pacific Northwest city known for its diverse neighborhoods, cultural attractions, beautiful waterfront, and access to year-round outdoor recreation.

Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract

  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,160-$2,270
  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
  • Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts, approximately 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Unit: High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery
  • Unit Profile: Approximately 31 rooms and beds, with an average daily census of 15-17 patients and approximately 550 births per month
  • Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend and holidays as needed
  • Documentation: Epic electronic fetal monitoring documentation

Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse license in Washington or an active compact license in hand at submission
  • At least 1 year of recent Registered Nurse experience
  • Recent high-risk Labor & Delivery experience in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting
  • Current BLS and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications
  • Proficiency with Epic documentation and electronic fetal monitoring
  • Demonstrated ability to circulate for Cesarean sections and provide comprehensive newborn care
  • Ability to function as the baby nurse during delivery and continue newborn care until transfer to postpartum
  • Willingness to float, when needed, to postpartum, antepartum, NICU for helping-hands support, or other appropriate units and nearby campuses
  • Ability to work weekends and designated holidays as part of the assignment schedule
  • Preferred: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications; previous charge experience

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for patients experiencing routine and high-risk labor and delivery
  • Assist with vaginal deliveries, Cesarean sections, operative deliveries, and other obstetric procedures
  • Circulate during Cesarean sections and maintain a safe, sterile operative environment
  • Serve as the baby nurse during deliveries, performing newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, identification and security banding, cord care, and routine newborn interventions
  • Administer newborn medications and treatments, including vitamin K and eye prophylaxis, according to policy
  • Monitor and manage patients receiving Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, insulin infusions, heparin, epidural anesthesia, and other therapies
  • Recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, hemorrhage, hypertension, postpartum complications, and other changes in patient condition
  • Provide antepartum, intrapartum, and immediate postpartum care while supporting patients and families through the childbirth experience
  • Collaborate with obstetric providers, midwives, anesthesia, neonatal teams, and interdisciplinary support services
  • Document assessments, interventions, fetal monitoring, delivery details, and newborn care accurately in Epic
  • Follow AWHONN guidelines and unit standards while contributing to a positive, team-oriented care environment
