Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) – Seattle, WA Contract
Join a high-acuity Labor & Delivery team as a travel Registered Nurse in Seattle, Washington. Provide expert care for high-risk obstetric patients, complex deliveries, cesarean sections, and newborns in a collaborative 13-week nursing contract.
Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,160–$2,270
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel nurse contract
- Location: Seattle, Washington 98122 — an energetic urban area with vibrant neighborhoods, waterfront views, and convenient access to outdoor recreation
- Start Date: October 19, 2026
- End Date: January 18, 2027
- Schedule: Three 12-hour day shifts per week, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.; 36 hours per week
- Healthcare Setting: High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit
- Unit Overview: Approximately 15–17 patients per day, 31 rooms, four operating rooms, and approximately 550 births per month
- Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Floating: May float to postpartum, antepartum, NICU for helping-hand support, or other appropriate units and nearby campuses based on patient-care needs
Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington or an active compact license in hand at submission
- At least 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- Recent high-risk Labor & Delivery experience in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications
- Epic charting experience, including electronic fetal monitoring documentation
- Demonstrated ability to function as a baby nurse during delivery and continue newborn care until transfer to postpartum
- Demonstrated ability to circulate for cesarean sections
- Strong clinical judgment, teamwork, communication, and adaptability
- ACLS and AWHONN Advanced certification preferred; AWHONN Intermediate certification is also valued
Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to antepartum, intrapartum, and high-risk obstetric patients
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, operative deliveries, and other complex obstetric procedures
- Serve as the baby nurse during delivery and provide immediate newborn assessment and stabilization
- Perform newborn care, including APGAR assessments, identification and security banding, cord care, eye prophylaxis, vitamin K administration, thermoregulation, and ongoing assessment
- Monitor fetal heart rate patterns using electronic fetal monitoring and promptly identify and respond to abnormalities
- Administer and monitor medications and therapies such as oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, insulin infusions, heparin, antihypertensives, and pain medications
- Support management of high-risk conditions, including pregnancy-induced hypertension, hemorrhage, shock, and newborn hypoglycemia
- Circulate for cesarean sections and assist with patient preparation, recovery, and transition of care
- Provide patient and family education, breastfeeding support, pain management, and emotional support
- Float to designated areas when needed while maintaining safe, high-quality patient care
