Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a high-risk unit at a teaching hospital, requiring 2 years of L&D experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Work in a High-Risk Labor & Delivery Unit featuring 12 private labor/delivery rooms, 6 dedicated OB triage rooms, and 2 cesarean section operating rooms
  • Collaborate closely with the High-Risk Antepartum Unit and Antepartum Unit located on the same floor
  • Postpartum and recovery care are provided on a separate unit, allowing focus on acute obstetric and surgical patients
  • Care for a diverse, high-acuity obstetric population within a teaching hospital environment with on-site MFM attendings, fellows, and OB/GYN residents
  • Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours (19:00-07:00)
  • Required to work every third weekend
  • Call required, consisting of 3 12-hour call shifts per scheduling period
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (MO or Compact) currently in hand
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate
  • Preferred certifications: AWHONN Advanced, FHM, and STABLE
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
  • High-risk L&D experience preferred
  • Prior charge nurse experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including high-risk deliveries, C-section circulation/scrubbing/recovery, and management of obstetric emergencies
  • Manage patients with complex conditions such as pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, HELLP syndrome, preterm labor, and VBAC trials of labor
  • Perform fetal monitoring including external and internal EFM, IUPC placement, and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Administer high-risk medications such as magnesium sulfate, pitocin, and antihypertensives
  • Work alongside multidisciplinary specialists, MFM attendings, fellows, and OB/GYN residents in a collaborative academic setting
  • Dedicated social work services available to support patients and families with complex needs
  • Scrubs are provided
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates living within 70 miles of the facility are considered local and are not accepted for this position
  • Travelers cannot work more than 1 year consecutively and must take a 6-month break before returning to the facility as a traveler
