Job Details

• Position: Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery (Travel RN)
• Location: Topeka, Kansas 66606
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day shift, 12-hour shifts (06:00 - 18:00)
• Schedule: 36-hour option available; approximately 3 shifts per week
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Coverage: 6 weekend shifts in 6 weeks or every third weekend
• Float Requirement: May float to Postpartum as needed
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,920 - $2,020

Job Requirements

• Active Kansas RN license or compact RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience required
• BLS, FHM, and NRP required
• AWHONN Advanced and AWHONN Intermediate certifications preferred/required per unit needs
• Experience with high-risk obstetric care strongly preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced acute care environment and provide compassionate maternal newborn care

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive Labor & Delivery nursing care for laboring patients, including high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia and diabetes
• Support OB triage, postpartum care, and Level 2 special care nursery patients
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and external cephalic versions
• Monitor fetal status using external and internal fetal monitoring as appropriate
• Respond to obstetric emergencies and provide timely intervention when needed
• Deliver patient education and emotional support throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and the care team to promote safe outcomes for mothers and newborns
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow unit protocols, safety standards, and best practices
