Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for Labor & Delivery/Postpartum requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and the ability to work an LDRP setting.

Details

  • Level 3 Trauma teaching-free hospital with 241 licensed beds
  • Unit includes 8 labor rooms, 3 triage rooms, 1 OR suite, and 1 PACU
  • Average census of 4 to 6 patients per day
  • Labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care patient population
  • RN staffing follows AWHONN guidelines: 1:2 inactive labor, 1:1 active labor, 1:3-4 couplets; CST 1 per shift
  • 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0700, 36 hours/week
  • Schedule cycle every 6 weeks with every-other-weekend rotation
  • Possibility of low census call, callback up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
  • Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division: CMC Main, Mercy, LCH) as needed within scope of practice
  • Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, fetal monitors, and Philips newborn monitors
  • Additional equipment includes scales, ultrasound, and ambulation assist devices

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, EFM, and NRP certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required, including ability to work in an LDRP setting
  • Minimum 12 months of core specialty experience within the last year required
  • Skills required: labor management, cesarean section circulating, pre-op and PACU care, triage, newborn resuscitation, Pitocin management, and epidural management
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care across labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn stages
  • 24/7 charge nurse and respiratory therapy support available on-site
  • Phlebotomy support available for peripheral blood draws
  • Hospitalist coverage available 24/7 for newborn care
  • Resource nurse support available when staffing allows
  • Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment
  • Hospital-issued green scrubs required
  • Free parking provided
  • Unit culture emphasizes teamwork
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate eligibility
  • Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position before returning
