Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for Labor & Delivery/Postpartum requiring 2 years of L&D experience and the ability to work an LDRP setting.

Details

  • Level 3 Trauma teaching-affiliated hospital with 241 licensed beds
  • Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
  • Unit includes 8 labor rooms, 3 triage rooms, 1 OR suite, and 1 PACU
  • Average of 4 to 6 patients per day
  • Labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care patient population
  • RN ratios follow AWHONN Staffing Guidelines: 1:2 inactive labor, 1:1 active labor, 1:3-4 couplets
  • CST staffed 1 per shift
  • 12-hour night shifts (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
  • Schedule cycle every 6 weeks with every other weekend rotation
  • Possibility of low census call, with call-back up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
  • Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed and within scope of practice

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact)
  • Current BLS, ACLS, EFM, and NRP certifications
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Must have most recent experience within the last year
  • Ability and willingness to work in an LDRP setting
  • Skills required include labor management, circulating cesarean sections, pre-op and PACU care, triage, newborn resuscitation, Pitocin management, and epidural management
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care across labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn stages
  • 24/7 charge nurse support and phlebotomy for peripheral blood draws
  • 24/7 respiratory therapy support within the hospital
  • 24/7 hospitalist support for newborn care
  • Resource nurse support available when possible
  • Uses Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, fetal monitors, and Philips newborn monitors
  • Additional unit equipment includes scales, ultrasound, and ambulation assist devices
  • Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) and 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Travelers required to work 75% of holidays
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with unmet contracted hours added to the end of the assignment
  • Hospital-issued green scrubs required
  • Free parking available
  • Unit culture emphasizes teamwork
  • First-time travelers will not be considered
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for the travel rate
  • Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
