Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for Labor & Delivery/Postpartum at a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2 years L&D experience and fetal monitoring certification.

Details

  • Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital with Chest Pain and Stroke Center designations
  • Unit includes 9 labor beds, 3 ORs, 4 PACUs, 11 antepartum beds, 4 triage beds, and 27 postpartum beds
  • Census ranges from 2-14 in L&D
  • Cares for laboring patients, antepartum patients, triage, PACU, and OR cases
  • RN staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
  • 12-hour night shift schedule (7p-7a), 36 hours/week standard
  • Weekend rotation of 5-6 shifts on a 6-week schedule
  • On-call requirement of one 12-hour shift every 6 weeks
  • Floating required to Antepartum and to circulate in the OR, as well as to all adult med surg/telemetry units house-wide
  • Support staff includes 2 OB Surg Techs per shift, CNAs, unit secretary/charge secretary coverage, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, intensivist, and OB physician coverage
  • Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
  • Unit-specific equipment includes VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova glucose stat strips, cardiac telemetry monitoring, Dynamap portable vital sign monitors, PCA pumps, bladder scanners, and Glucommander

Requirements

  • Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
  • Minimum 2 years L&D RN experience required
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring, and Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) with EKG competency exam
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Strong clinical assessment and L&D skills appropriate for a Level 1 Trauma hospital
  • Experience with IV insertion, central line management, and interdisciplinary care coordination
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care across labor, antepartum, triage, PACU, and postpartum areas
  • Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams including OB physicians, hospitalists, and intensivists
  • Orientation includes 1 day of facility orientation with educational modules and 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Scrub color requirement: Navy for RNs, with L&D surgical green and scrub exchange system for OR duties
  • Unit culture described as busy but team-oriented
  • Must work one shift each for Thanksgiving or the day after, Christmas Eve or Day, and New Year's Eve or Day
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted with no radius rule and same pay rate for GA-based travelers
  • Returning travelers must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
