Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Interventional Radiology position requiring both General IR and Neuro IR experience with call rotation.

Details

  • Level III Trauma Center and Level III NICU with Magnet Designation and Comprehensive Stroke Center
  • 5-room IR department staffed 24/7
  • Adult patient population only, no pediatrics
  • General IR cases include kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty, central lines/PICCs/ports, fistulograms, IVC filters, nephrostomy tubes, nephroureteral stents, peripheral leg cases, coil embolization, thoras/paras, and CT-supported procedures such as cryos, CT biopsies, and drains
  • Neuro IR cases include strokes, embolization, DSA, WADA test, and spinal angios
  • AAA intervention experience preferred
  • Averages 40-50 patients per day
  • 10-hour day shifts, 0700-1730 on weekdays
  • Weekday call once per week (EOS to 0700 the following morning)
  • Weekend call rotation approximately every 5th-7th weekend (Friday EOS to Monday 0700)
  • Neuro call assigned only to those with Neuro IR experience; general IR call otherwise
  • No floating required

Requirements

  • Active WI or compact RN license required
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Minimum 12 months of recent core experience in IR required, including both General IR and Neuro IR case exposure
  • Experience with basic to complex cases such as bleeds, TIPS, Y-90, carotid stenting, and strokes required
  • Experience providing sedation, monitoring, and charting for IR patients
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Experience with Siemens and GE equipment preferred
  • Candidate DOB and last 4 of SSN required for consideration
  • Middle name or initial required for consideration
  • At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required

Additional Information

  • Provide sedation, monitoring, and charting support for General IR and Neuro IR procedures
  • Work alongside two techs per exam room (sometimes three for complex cases), tech specialists, two lead techs, two unit coordinators, 24/7 respiratory therapy, and 24/7 hospitalist coverage
  • 24/7 CNA/transporter support available, though RNs may transport their own patients
  • 1-2 week preceptor-guided orientation with competency check-off
  • Response time of 30 minutes required when on call
  • No holiday coverage currently required, though subject to change (call only)
  • Up to 7 days RTO can be approved
  • Scrubs provided and free parking available with badge access
  • COVID vaccine required
  • First-time travelers and travelers with 1 year of experience will be considered
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions
  • Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible for travel assignments
