Job Requirements

• Active Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of acute care Registered Nurse experience in the specialty within the last 3 years
• Telemetry, cardiac stepdown, PCU/DOU, or IMC experience required
• Experience with oncology, cardiac, or progressive care patients preferred
• BLS and ACLS certification required through AHA
• Ability to pass a telemetry exam prior to start
• Experience with ventilators and transplant patients required
• Strong skills in Epic charting and high-acuity inpatient nursing care
• Comfortable floating as needed based on unit needs
• Ability to work with adults and geriatric patient populations

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate care to cardiac stepdown and thoracic surgery patients
• Monitor telemetry rhythms and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
• Support post-operative thoracic and cardiac patients, including chest tube management and related procedures
• Administer and titrate medications and therapies per protocol
• Perform comprehensive assessments and collaborate with the care team to develop individualized plans
• Care for patients with complex diagnoses such as esophagectomies, lung volume reduction surgery, wedge resections, and cardiac surgery recovery
• Work closely with respiratory therapy, IV teams, pharmacy, radiology, and other interdisciplinary support services
• Float to related units as needed to support patient care needs
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic
• Demonstrate critical thinking, teamwork, and a commitment to evidence-based nursing practice
