Job Requirements

  • Active Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification from AHA
  • 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty
  • Cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC, or stepdown experience required
  • Strong vent and transplant experience required
  • Experience in an academic Level I or II trauma center, or a similar-size hospital
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Must be able to pass a telemetry exam prior to start
  • Comfort working with adult patients who have multiple comorbidities and hemodynamic instability

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to acutely ill adult patients on a busy cardiac stepdown unit
  • Monitor telemetry and recognize changes in rhythm, status, and clinical condition
  • Care for patients with cardiac, thoracic, transplant, pulmonary, and trauma-related diagnoses
  • Manage ventilated patients and support transplant care as part of the unit's specialty population
  • Administer medications, titrate cardiac drips, and follow unit protocols safely and accurately
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, IV teams, pharmacy, phlebotomy, and rapid response resources
  • Document care thoroughly in Epic and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
  • Float to related IMC and stepdown areas as needed to support patient care
  • Work in a fast-paced environment where teamwork, clinical judgment, and patient advocacy are essential
