Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring a CA RN license and proficiency in neuro critical care cases.

Details

  • Work in the ICU on a 3x12 night shift schedule (19:00-07:30)
  • High neurological patient population requiring comfort and proficiency with neuro cases
  • 1:2 patient ratio
  • Epic charting system required
  • Every other weekend required, plus additional shifts as unit needs dictate
  • As-needed on-call responsibilities
  • May float to other units within scope of practice, and potentially to other campuses (Summit or Herrick) with as little as 1.5 hours notice
  • Shuttle service provided for inter-campus floating

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIHSS certification required; CPI certification preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of RN ICU experience required
  • At least 1 year of travel nursing experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, and blood product administration
  • Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and respiratory therapies (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, suctioning)
  • Experience with CRRT/CVVHD and management of acute/chronic renal failure preferred
  • Proficient in titrating vasoactive and cardiac drips, continuous IV sedation, and neuromuscular blockade management
  • Strong neuro critical care skill set including EVD, ICP monitoring, hypothermia protocol, post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery management, and TBI/spinal cord injury care preferred
  • Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia management, 12-lead EKG acquisition, and FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring preferred
  • Experience with Swan Ganz/pulmonary artery line monitoring and sheath removal preferred
  • Nursys license verification uploaded within the last 2 weeks required for consideration
  • Two supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration
  • 7-year work history verification required

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to a high-acuity ICU population with a strong focus on neurological cases
  • Must complete required lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
  • Compliance documents due 10 days prior to start
  • Re-orientation only required if separated from the facility for 6+ months since last shift and prior orientation was completed there
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
  • Holiday coverage expected for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
  • Local candidates accepted at the local rate
  • Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius or accept the local rate
  • Returning travelers must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year to be eligible
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
