Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with a CA license and 3+ years of ICU experience, including neuro patient care, for a 13-week travel assignment.

Details

  • Work in the ICU on a Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM)
  • Unit sees a high volume of Neuro ICU patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Weekend requirements include every other weekend and additional shifts as needed based on unit census
  • On-call required as needed
  • May float to other units within scope of practice, including Summit or Herrick Campus, with as little as 1.5 hours notice
  • Shuttle service provided for floating between campuses

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required
  • Current certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA or ARC only)
  • NIHSS certification required; CPI certification preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of ICU experience required
  • Prior travel nurse experience required
  • Proficiency with neuro patient care required, including CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, and post-neurosurgery care preferred
  • Skilled in ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and respiratory care
  • Experience with central line, arterial line, and PICC line management
  • Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation and neuromuscular blockade
  • 2 references obtained within the last year required for consideration
  • Must disclose any background or licensure hits with supporting documentation for facility approval

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to ICU patients with a focus on neurological and surgical cases
  • Manage complex cases involving multisystem organ dysfunction and cardiac monitoring
  • Perform phlebotomy and adhere to infection prevention and isolation precaution protocols
  • Must complete labs within 3-5 days of contract signing
  • 7-year work history verification required for all candidates
  • All compliance documents due 10 days prior to start
  • Re-orientation only required if previously oriented at this facility and separated for 6+ months
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
  • Holiday coverage includes New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
  • Returning employees must have a 1-year separation before being eligible to return as a traveler
  • Local candidates accepted at local rate within a 50-mile radius
  • First-time travelers are not considered for this position
