ICU Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Nursing Job – 13-Week Contract in Hastings, Nebraska

Travel ICU RN Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
- Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nursing
- Location: Hastings, Nebraska
- Setting: Acute-care ICU with 10 private beds; ICU and PCU are located on the same floor
- Shift: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Contract: 13 weeks, from October 5, 2026 through January 4, 2027
- Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Weekend rotation and holiday coverage may be required; flexibility is appreciated
- Documentation: EPIC
- Call: No required call or standby
- Orientation: Two department orientation days followed by one shift on the unit
ICU Travel Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Nebraska
- At least 1 year of recent ICU nursing experience
- Demonstrated experience caring for ventilated patients
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Experience with ventilators, arterial lines, PICC lines, ports, chest tubes, drains, wounds, ostomies, OG/NG tubes, and PPE protocols
- Ability to identify arrhythmias and safely manage cardioversions, defibrillation, post-cardiac-catheterization patients, and pain management
- Strong critical-thinking, patient assessment, communication, and teamwork skills
- Willingness to float to PCU and occasionally MedSurg as needed
ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult patients with conditions including DKA, CHF, CVA, sepsis, overdose, respiratory failure, trauma, and other complex medical diagnoses
- Monitor patients closely, recognize changes in condition, and initiate timely interventions
- Manage ventilators and respiratory support equipment, including CPAP and BiPAP
- Titrate and monitor medications such as insulin, norepinephrine, Cardizem, dopamine, dobutamine, heparin, amiodarone, Lasix, TPA, and sedation infusions according to clinical protocols
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to arrhythmias and other emergent changes
- Care for patients with arterial lines, central access, chest tubes, drains, wounds, ostomies, and feeding or decompression tubes
- Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, respiratory therapy, support staff, and the interdisciplinary care team
- Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC and promote safe, evidence-based patient care
- Accept a full patient assignment when floating to MedSurg, with typical ratios of 1:5–6
