Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with a minimum of 2 years' ICU experience for a Level II Trauma Center in Wisconsin, requiring a WI or compact RN license.

Details

  • 14-bed ICU within a Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
  • Patient population includes general/medical, cardiac, trauma, surgical, and neuro cases
  • Patient ratios of 1:1-3, with team nursing support from experienced MedSurg RNs when ratios exceed 2 patients
  • No cardiovascular surgeries performed on the unit
  • 12-hour evening shifts, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required anywhere in the hospital within scope of practice, with 1:4 ratio when floating to MedSurg/Tele units or ED Boarding with MS patients
  • Travelers float first
  • Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing system used

Requirements

  • Active WI or compact RN license required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIHSS certification required
  • TNCC certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Skilled in vent/trach management, tube/drain management, chest tubes, and invasive line management (art line, CVP)
  • Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills required
  • Experience with medication titration including sedation, pressors, cardiac, pain, and paralytics
  • Surgical recovery experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Experience with abdominal pressure monitoring, EVDs, CVVH, and IABP preferred
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Candidate DOB and last 4 of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Manage critically ill patients with conditions including sepsis, respiratory failure, GI bleeds, cardiac events, trauma, and neuro emergencies
  • Unit supported by Charge RN, 1-2 CNAs per shift, HUC on day shift, RT, hospitalists, and intensivists available 24/7, and OT/PT/ST during the day
  • 2-day orientation including facility access/training on day 1 and 12-hour unit training with a preceptor on day 2
  • Holiday coverage required for 1 holiday per contract
  • Up to 7 days of RTO can be approved
  • Schedules are built in 6-week increments
  • Scrubs must be a solid, professional color with no graphics, logos, or designs
  • Free parking available in designated employee areas
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former employees of the health system or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for this travel position
  • No radius rules apply; local candidates accepted at the same rate
