Travel ICU Nursing Job Details

- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:2 in ICU and step-down settings
- Floating: Required within scope across five ICU specialties and step-down units at two nearby campuses; shuttle transportation is available between campuses
- Charting: Epic electronic health record (EHR)
- Facility Setting: Short-term acute care, Level I Trauma Center
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Guaranteed Hours: Yes
Travel ICU Registered Nurse Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut before the start date; pending licensure may be considered if the application is submitted in advance
- At least 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience; a minimum of 1 year is required, with 2 years preferred for this travel assignment
- Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications
- Recent experience caring for critically ill adult or geriatric patients
- Ability to float between ICU specialties and step-down units while practicing within scope
- Experience with Epic or another electronic health record system preferred
- Strong critical care assessment, prioritization, communication, and teamwork skills
- Willingness to meet travel assignment requirements, including residence outside the local commuting area
- Annual influenza vaccination is required
Critical Care RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for critically ill adult and geriatric patients in ICU and step-down settings
- Monitor patients, recognize changes in condition, and intervene promptly in rapidly changing clinical situations
- Manage ventilated patients, arterial lines, central lines, continuous IV sedation, dysrhythmias, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
- Provide care for patients with external ventricular drains and pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz catheters
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and implement appropriate interventions for dysrhythmias
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Safely float to designated ICU specialties and step-down units, including pulmonary step-down, according to staffing needs and competency
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in Epic
- Educate patients and families while supporting quality, safety, and evidence-based practice standards
