Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980–$2,080
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: October 30, 2026
  • End Date: January 29, 2027
  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week
  • Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
  • Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Healthcare Setting: Medical ICU (MICU) and step-down unit
  • Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:1 or 2:1 in the ICU; 3:1 in the step-down unit
  • Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
  • Call: None required
  • Floating: PCU, other ICUs, and an additional campus as needed
  • Assignment Type: Travel nursing

ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut or eligibility to obtain one
  • At least 2 years of recent ICU, MICU, or critical care nursing experience
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Experience caring for high-acuity patients with complex medical conditions
  • Competency with arterial line management, ventilated patient care, central line care, continuous IV sedation, and dysrhythmia management
  • Ability to interpret arterial blood gases and cardiac rhythms
  • Strong understanding of isolation precautions and personal protective equipment
  • Ability to float between critical care and step-down settings when needed
  • At least one professional reference

Critical Care Nursing Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the medical ICU and step-down unit
  • Manage patients experiencing acute respiratory failure, sepsis, liver or renal failure, gastrointestinal bleeding, and post-cardiac-arrest complications
  • Monitor and manage ventilated patients, arterial lines, central lines, continuous infusions, and sedation therapies
  • Recognize, interpret, and respond to changes in cardiac rhythms and patient condition
  • Interpret arterial blood gas results and collaborate with the care team on treatment plans
  • Deliver safe, evidence-based critical care while maintaining appropriate patient assignments and prioritizing rapidly changing needs
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, patient care assistants, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
  • Float to PCU, other ICUs, or an additional campus as assigned to support patient care needs
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic medical record
  • Promote patient safety, infection prevention, and compassionate care throughout the assignment
