ICU Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in New Haven, CT

ICU Travel Nurse Job Details

ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license; an active Connecticut RN license is required before the start date
  • At least 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience; candidates with 1 year of experience may be considered when supported by Level I Trauma Center or travel nursing experience
  • Current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications
  • Recent experience caring for adult and geriatric patients in critical care or step-down settings
  • Strong generalist ICU nursing skills and the ability to float across multiple critical care specialties
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Ability to manage changing assignments and provide care across multiple nearby hospital campuses
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required

ICU Travel Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for critically ill adult and geriatric patients in ICU and step-down settings
  • Float to medical, surgical, cardiovascular, cardiothoracic, neurological, and other critical care specialties according to unit needs
  • Care for patients requiring ventilator management, continuous IV sedation, arterial line monitoring, central line care, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Monitor and manage patients with pulmonary artery lines, Swan-Ganz catheters, and ventriculostomies
  • Perform thorough nursing assessments, recognize changes in patient condition, and escalate concerns promptly
  • Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary teams to develop and evaluate individualized plans of care
  • Administer medications and therapies safely while maintaining accurate Epic documentation
  • Support safe transitions of care and maintain high standards of quality, safety, and patient advocacy
  • Adapt efficiently to different unit workflows, patient populations, and staffing needs
