Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Critical Care Float Pool position at a teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and float flexibility across multiple ICU units.

Details

  • Critical Care Float Pool role covering multiple ICUs based on staffing and patient acuity
  • Potential units include Neuro ICU, Surgical ICUs, Medical ICUs (MICU x2), Cardiology/Diagnostics, CVICU, SICU/MICU/NCCU
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
  • Nurses float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Uses EPIC EMR system

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required at time of submission
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with EPIC required
  • Required skills include IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and ventilator management
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing across a variety of ICU settings as part of a float pool team
  • Responsibilities include arterial line management, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, and chest tube assistance
  • Skilled in ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, and suctioning
  • Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and paralytics preferred
  • Familiarity with neurological care including EVD, ICP monitoring, and lumbar drains preferred
  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignments after 6 months away from the facility
  • Current employees are ineligible to be hired as travelers at any Ohio State University hospital location
  • Must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
  • RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
