Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU night shift position at a Level II trauma teaching hospital requiring 2+ years of recent ICU experience.

Details

  • Surgical ICU unit within a hospital setting
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
  • Floating required
  • Call required
  • Epic charting system experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active RN license, Ohio or compact, required in hand at time of consideration
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
  • Trauma Level II experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Surgical/Trauma/Burn/Transplant ICU experience preferred
  • Experience with IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central and PICC line management
  • Skilled in chest tube assistance, BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator care, HFNC, and ABG interpretation
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation, and titrating vasoactive drips
  • Knowledge of acute/chronic renal failure management and IV insulin protocols
  • Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction and interpreting/managing dysrhythmias
  • Experience with post-neurosurgery management, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury care
  • Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring experience preferred
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; a charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to surgical ICU patients in a high-acuity trauma and teaching hospital environment
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6+ months away from the facility
  • Current permanent employees are ineligible for travel assignments at this health system
  • RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
