Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Medical ICU role requiring ventilator management and critical care drip expertise at a Level II Trauma Center.

Details

  • Work in a 26-bed Medical ICU within a South Tower hospital setting
  • 2:1 patient ratios with total care provided by RNs supported by a unit secretary/COVID runner
  • Equipment used includes ventilators, Alaris IV pumps, balloon pumps, ventriculostomy drains, and glucometers
  • PPE includes masks, face shields, goggles, and PAPRs for COVID-19 patient care
  • Documentation completed in Meditech using Evidence Based Clinical Documentation (EBCD)
  • 12-hour shifts from 7A-7P with every other weekend required
  • Floating to other Medical-Surgical units required, with priority given to Intensive Care Units
  • Procedures performed on the unit include intubations, cardioversions, ventriculostomy drain placement and management, IABP management, CRRT, and proning of patients

Requirements

  • Active LA or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (TNCC a plus)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent ICU experience required
  • Strong ventilator management and critical care drip knowledge required
  • Proficient assessment skills across cardiac, neuro, and respiratory systems required
  • Experience donning and doffing PPE required
  • No gaps in work history exceeding 90 days within the past 12 months
  • US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct bedside care to critically ill ICU patients including those with COVID-19
  • Participate in hourly rounding, bedside hand-off reporting, and use of My Care Board during shift changes
  • Facility utilizes AIDET communication framework focused on compassionate, connected care
  • Hospital is Pathways to Excellence Certified, working toward Magnet status, and designated a Certified Stroke Center, Certified Chest Pain Center, and Level II Trauma Center
  • Unit has received HCA recognition as a top 10% and top 5% Unit of Distinction, ranking #2 ICU in HCA in 2019
  • Dress code requires ceil blue scrubs with optional white or ceil blue scrub jacket; green surgery scrubs provided for COVID patient care
  • Self-scheduling available within unit guidelines
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
