  • Additional Scheduling Information: Travelers may be asked to float to another unit or campus. Requested time off may be considered when scheduling requirements can still be met.

ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas, with license in hand at submission
  • At least 2 years of recent ICU or critical care nursing experience
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Travel nursing experience preferred
  • Altera electronic medical record charting experience preferred, but not required
  • Successful completion of required credentialing, certification verification, and facility screening processes
  • Availability to complete required laboratory and compliance items within 72 hours of accepting the offer, or have an approved completion plan

ICU RN Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients using the nursing process
  • Assess patients, identify changes in condition, and respond promptly to evolving clinical needs
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with provider orders and established protocols
  • Monitor hemodynamic status, respiratory function, neurological status, and other critical care indicators
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Educate and support patients and families while maintaining clear, compassionate communication
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record
  • Promote patient safety, infection prevention, and continuity of care during shift changes
  • Float to another unit or campus when needed and within the nurse’s qualifications
