Travel ICU Registered Nurse Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas, in hand at the time of submission
• At least 2 years of recent ICU or critical care nursing experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certification
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Experience with Altera electronic charting preferred, but not required
• Ability to float to another unit or campus when needed
• Traveler must reside at least 150 miles from the assignment location; local candidates are not eligible
• Successful completion of required compliance documentation, credential verification, and pre-employment screening
• Flu vaccination required; medical and religious exemptions may be considered according to policy
• Availability to complete required laboratory and compliance items within 72 hours of accepting the assignment

ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide direct, individualized nursing care to critically ill patients using the nursing process
• Assess patient conditions, develop and implement care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes
• Monitor complex ICU patients and promptly recognize changes in clinical status
• Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with established standards
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and other members of the critical care team
• Educate patients and families while providing clear, compassionate communication
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record
• Support a safe, respectful, and professional patient care environment
• Float to other appropriate units or campuses as assigned
