ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized care in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in critical care nursing with a focus on trauma, neuro, or cardiovascular patients.

Shift Information

• Shift Type: Days
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend or up to 3 weekends per month, depending on the unit's needs
• Holiday Requirements: 1 holiday off during the assignment

Unit Information

This position will be based in a Surgical ICU that specializes in trauma and neuro surgery, with 32 beds available for critical care patients. The nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:2, but may adjust to 1:1 in more critical cases.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a busy ICU setting.
• Administer medications, including titratable drips such as Propofol, Fentanyl, and Levophed.
• Monitor and interpret vital signs and cardiac rhythms.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including hospitalists and intensivists available 24/7.
• Participate in unit-specific orientation and ongoing training.
• Float to other ICUs as needed based on unit demands.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of recent ICU experience.
• Experience in either neuro or cardiovascular care is required.
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
• A successful completion of the UNA Dysrhythmia Exam prior to acceptance is mandatory.
• Pass/fail assessment in a Sim Lab during orientation.

Additional Notes

• Self-scheduling is available; however, the manager may need to balance the schedule based on unit needs.
• No additional on-call or standby requirements; however, low census may occur up to 3 times during the contract.
• Expectations to validate skills for trauma, neuro, and specialty devices as needed.
• Navy scrub color is required.
