Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU/Telemetry

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the PCU/Telemetry setting is responsible for evaluating assigned patients and planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care. This role involves assisting physicians during examinations and procedures, performing patient tests, and administering medications within the scope of nursing practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and monitor patients' progress while planning and implementing nursing care strategies.
• Assist physicians during examinations and various procedures.
• Perform a variety of patient tests and administer medications as required.
• Promote patient independence by establishing care goals and educating patients and their families about medical conditions, medication, and self-care skills.
• Utilize clinical judgment and experience in planning and executing care goals.
• Flexibility to float between departments and multiple locations within the region as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
• Active registered nurse license in Arizona.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Experience with the Cerner electronic medical record (EMR) system is required.
• Ability to manage a patient ratio of 6:1 effectively.

Work Schedule

This position requires night shifts, including three 12-hour shifts per week, as well as a commitment to work six weekend shifts within a six-week schedule.

Unit Information

The PCU/Telemetry unit is a step-down unit from ICU, focusing on cardiac care. Nurses in this role should be proficient in handling cardiac drips and should be familiar with procedures such as TAVRs (transcatheter aortic valve replacements) and Watchman mitral clips.

Scrub Color

Nurses are allowed to wear scrubs in any color.
