Description

American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN for a 14-week day shift assignment requiring 2 years of ICU experience and GA or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • ICU setting caring for adult to geriatric patients
  • Common diagnoses include ARDS, sepsis, stroke, STEMI, DKA, post-op complications, cardiogenic shock, GIB, COPD exacerbation, encephalopathy, liver failure, drug overdose, and ESRD on CRRT
  • 24-bed unit with an average daily census of 19
  • Patient ratio of 1:2-3, with possibility of taking a third patient
  • Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
  • Every other weekend required unless otherwise specified
  • Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
  • Uses Pyxis and Epic systems, with SBAR communication
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Block scheduling not guaranteed and no alternate shift requests accepted
  • Travel pairs not permitted on the same shift within the same unit

Requirements

  • Active GA or compact RN license required at time of submission
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
  • TNCC certification preferred
  • Skills required: care of ventilated patients, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), suctioning (ETT, NT), IV therapy, central line management, CVA/acute stroke management, cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Preferred skills: post neurosurgery management, CVVHD/CRRT, and post cardiac surgery care
  • No prior travel experience required; first-time travelers accepted
  • Two supervisory references (Manager level or above) highly preferred at time of consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to a medically complex ICU population
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, finalized prior to submission
  • No RTO permitted during orientation week
  • Holiday coverage required per facility policy: work 1-2 holidays if they fall during the assignment, or 2 of 3 if three occur during the assignment
  • Recognized holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Previous Piedmont employees must be separated from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before returning as a traveler
  • Travelers previously unable to return to a specific facility must complete one successful assignment elsewhere before rebooking
  • Clinical screening required to confirm fit prior to manager review
