GHG Healthcare is seeking a travel nurse RN Critical Care Float for a travel nursing job in Phoenix, Arizona.

Opportunity:
RN - ICU Float Pool
Job Details:
• 12-hour shifts available on either day shift (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) or night shift (7:00 PM - 7:30 PM)
• Schedule is set 4 weeks in advance and may be adjusted two weeks in advance based on hospital needs
• 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week period, with weekends defined as Saturday and Sunday
• Holiday shifts required based on unit needs
• No on-call requirement; if placed on standby due to low census, response time is 30 minutes
• Must have a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience
• Level 1 trauma center experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred due to complexity and high acuity of patients
• Must be a well-rounded ICU nurse comfortable floating to all ICU areas as well as MedSurg/Tele units, including sister campuses
• Float assignments cannot be refused; travelers must understand and accept floating expectations prior to placement
• ICU Float Cluster includes Tower 2 (medical, surgical, and trauma patients), Tower 4 (cardiothoracic ICU specializing in lung transplants and ECMO), and 4 Neuro (neuro-specific ICU); all ICU units maintain a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio; Tele ratio is 1:4
• Must be proficient with all critical drips
• Must be proficient with all types of respiratory support including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
• Must be able to read telemetry strips using GE equipment
• Charting completed in Cerner
• All reports completed at the bedside; quality two-person skin assessment required within the first 4 hours of each shift
• Must pass Advanced Dysrhythmia Exam with a score of 80% or higher within 2 attempts prior to contract start
• Must pass Day 1 SIMs Lab (pass/fail) covering Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes; strict sterile field technique is expected
• Orientation consists of 2 shifts, with a third shift available only if needed
• Assignments communicated via GroupMe texting service 30-60 minutes in advance, or by phone call if GroupMe is not an option
• Must update department code with each unit change when clocking in; expected to be on the unit by 7:00 AM or 7:00 PM to participate in shift huddle
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), NIHSS preferred but not required

This facility is a Level 1 trauma center and teaching hospital known for handling highly complex and high-acuity patient cases. The facility operates multiple ICU towers specializing in medical, surgical, trauma, cardiothoracic, and neurological care, along with telemetry and MedSurg units across multiple campuses. The organization is committed to maintaining the highest standards of patient care and expects all nursing staff to demonstrate competency in critical clinical skills.
