Contract | Nights | 7PM–7:30AM | Expected 3 shifts/week | 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period required | Holidays required based on unit needs | No call; standby response time of 30 minutes if placed on low-census standby

Key Responsibilities

  • Float independently among all ICU areas (medical/surgical/trauma ICU, cardiothoracic ICU specializing in lung transplants and ECMO, and neuro ICU) as well as MedSurg/Tele units, including sister campuses; nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2 in ICU areas and 1:4 on Tele units
  • Manage all critical drips and operate all types of respiratory support equipment including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
  • Read and interpret telemetry strips using GE monitoring equipment
  • Complete all patient reports at the bedside and perform a quality two-person skin assessment within the first 4 hours of each shift
  • Participate in a pass/fail SIMs Lab on Day 1 covering Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes with strict adherence to sterile field technique; also complete educational modules on lifts, restraints, and wound care
  • Pass an Advanced Dysrhythmia Exam (minimum score 80%) within 2 attempts prior to contract start

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience
  • Level I Trauma Center experience required
  • Demonstrated competency in sterile field technique, Foley catheter insertion, and central line dressing changes
  • Ability and willingness to float to all assigned ICU and MedSurg/Tele units without refusal; float flexibility is a firm expectation of this role
  • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Teaching hospital experience preferred given the complexity and high acuity of the patient population
  • NIHSS certification preferred but not required
  • Experience with ECMO and lung transplant patient care
  • Comfort using GroupMe or similar mobile communication platforms for receiving unit assignments
