Key Responsibilities

• Receive and accession specimens from surgery into the laboratory information system
• Collect tissue blocks from pathologist assistant staff and perform tissue processing and embedding
• Cut and stain slides in support of histology, cytology, and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows
• Operate within a combined Pathology, Cytology, and IHC department environment
• Adhere to holiday coverage expectations, including working 2 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day) and 1 minor holiday (Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, or New Year's Eve)

Required Qualifications

• Active ASCP certification (HT or HTL) required
• Successful completion of a formal histotechnologist training program, or an Associate's degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in histology
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with Cerner or similar laboratory information systems
• Background working in a combined Pathology, Cytology, and IHC laboratory setting
