Description

American Traveler is hiring an ER RN for a 13-week assignment requiring an active NY RN license, EPIC experience, and at least 2 years of emergency department experience.

Details

  • Adult and pediatric Emergency Department at a teaching hospital
  • 1:5 patient ratio covering all emergency-type diagnoses across adult and geriatric populations
  • Day (7a-7p) and Night (7p-7a) shifts, 3x12-hour schedule
  • Every other weekend requirement
  • Every other holiday requirement, if needed
  • Uses EPIC for charting
  • Floating required within skillset
  • Special equipment used includes Bair Hugger, rapid infuser, and safe patient handling equipment
  • Facility may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract without charge

Requirements

  • Active NY Single State RN license required in hand (NY is not a compact state)
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; PALS and TNCC preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Experience with IV vasopressors, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilator management
  • Experience managing CVA, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and TBI patients
  • Cardiac monitoring skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and obtaining 12-lead EKGs
  • Experience in emergency care for adult and pediatric patients, including gunshot wounds and ortho trauma
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and triage protocols
  • Experience managing psychiatric patients including acute psychosis, drug overdose, violent behavior, and suicidal patients

  • 528-bed acute care teaching hospital that is Magnet-recognized and certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
  • Affiliated with Cleveland Clinic and Roswell Park, offering specialized services
  • Scrub color requirement: any combination of navy blue and white
  • Candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted for RN positions, though local LPN candidates are accepted
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Previous staff may be considered for rehire after a 6-month system-wide waiting period
