Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a night shift position in a fast-paced, non-trauma emergency department requiring an active MD or Compact RN license.

Details

• Emergency Department setting with 47 beds and an average daily census of 130
• All-age patient population from infant to geriatric
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
• Fast-paced, high-volume ER that is not a designated trauma center
• Night shift schedule (7:00 PM-7:30 AM), 3x12 or 4x12 hours accepted
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Floating required within specialty
• No on-call requirements
• Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD state or Compact) required at time of submission
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification (AHA only)
• CPI certification required (Calm Every Storm online version only accepted online vendor)
• NIHSS certification required
• 2 years of ER experience preferred, though candidates with 1+ year and a strong skillset will be considered
• Community hospital experience required
• Experience with pediatric and adult emergency care across a wide range of conditions including trauma, cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and psychiatric presentations
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, cardiac monitoring, EKG interpretation, and splinting

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across a broad range of conditions including respiratory distress, cardiac events, neurological emergencies, psychiatric crises, and pediatric illnesses
• Perform triage, isolation precautions/PPE protocols, and emergency medication administration
• Travelers are expected to float within their specialty with no restrictions, with priority given to travelers for floating
• Local candidates accepted at the local rate
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Returning staff must have been away from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Returning travelers must have been away from the system for at least 6 months following a previous assignment
• Contract extensions typically limited to one initial contract plus one extension, followed by a required 6-month break before returning to the same facility or unit
• Maximum of 7 days RTO may be requested; requests of more than 4 consecutive days require an additional week added to the end of the contract
