Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Room Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team in a bustling emergency department. This position is focused on providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Shift Information

  • Shift: Days, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
  • Shift Length: 12 hours
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: Must be available to work on major holidays in November and December, with some flexibility considered.

Unit Information

  • Unit Type: Emergency Room (ER)
  • Total Beds: 56 beds, expandable to 60-70 with hall beds
  • Fast Track Area: Yes, 6 beds available
  • Triage Area: Separate triage area with 5 beds; travelers may take a triage test for assignment
  • Psych/Suclusion Rooms: Yes, 6 private treatment rooms available in a secured area
  • In-House Security: Yes
  • Average Patients per Day: Approximately 170-200
  • Patient Ratios: 1:3, up to 1:4 for low acuity

  • Cardiac Conditions
  • Stroke Management
  • Sepsis
  • Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
  • Altered Mental Status (AMS)
  • Respiratory Issues
  • Abdominal Pain
  • Mental Health Emergencies

Qualifications

  • Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in a relevant setting
  • Required Certifications:
    • ACLS
    • BLS
    • TNCC
    • PALS or ENPC
  • Additional Skills: Experience in larger trauma settings is preferred.

Additional Information

Unit orientation will include a one-day compliance training (8-10 hours) followed by a second day focusing on department-specific information (12 hours). The team values flexibility and adaptability, as shifts will be based on departmental needs.

Please note that no time-off requests will be considered during the first full week of a traveler's assignment.

Technology and Support

  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Epic
  • Transportation & Radiology: Radiology department adjacent to the ER; transport team assists with patient movement.
  • Patient Care Support: ED Techs and CNAs available for patient monitoring and assistance.
  • Respiratory Therapy Equipment: Managed by RTs; includes Vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and more.
