Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Patient Population: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
  • Typical Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5
  • Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and holidays
  • Call Requirement: None

Emergency Department Registered Nurse Requirements

  • Active Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • At least 1 year of recent Emergency Department or emergency room nursing experience required; 2 years preferred
  • Emergency nursing experience in a high-acuity or Level I trauma environment preferred
  • Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications from the American Heart Association or an approved provider
  • TNCC and ENPC certifications preferred
  • Experience caring for both adult and pediatric emergency patients preferred
  • Epic electronic medical record charting experience preferred
  • Current influenza vaccination required; medical exemptions may be considered according to policy
  • Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and critical-thinking skills

Emergency Nursing Responsibilities

  • Perform rapid patient assessments, triage, and ongoing reassessments for patients with emergency and complex medical conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans based on patient acuity and changing clinical needs
  • Administer medications, initiate treatments, monitor patient responses, and recognize changes in condition
  • Provide safe, compassionate emergency care to patients ranging from neonates and children to adults and older adults
  • Respond effectively to medical emergencies, trauma cases, and other time-sensitive clinical situations
  • Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary partners, including respiratory services, pharmacy, social services, interpretation services, and phlebotomy
  • Document assessments, interventions, reassessments, and patient outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record
  • Educate patients and families while supporting safe transitions, discharge planning, and continuity of care
  • Maintain a calm, organized, and patient-centered approach in a busy Emergency Department environment
