Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring prior Level I Trauma ED experience and IL RN licensure.

Details

  • Work in the Emergency Department of a Level I and Level II Trauma Center
  • General ED setting treating combined adult and pediatric patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required
  • Epic EMR used

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required, with a preference for 2+ years
  • Prior experience in an urban, Level I Trauma ED required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS
  • Preferred certifications: TNCC and CPI
  • Skilled in trauma care including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputations, and shock/trauma management
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and 12-lead EKG/ECG
  • Experience triaging patients and applying isolation precautions/PPE
  • Experience managing pediatric and adult emergency conditions including seizures, asthma, and psychiatric emergencies
  • Skilled in IV therapy including starting/maintaining IVs and blood product administration
  • Experience with orthopedic trauma and splint application

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of trauma, medical, psychiatric, and pediatric cases
  • Work within a Level I Trauma Center environment with high-acuity patient care
  • Manage patients presenting with neurological emergencies such as CVA, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury
  • Administer emergency medications including vasopressors and procedural sedation
  • Perform respiratory interventions such as BiPAP/CPAP management and ABG interpretation
  • Recognize and report signs of abuse or neglect
  • RTO limited to a maximum of 7 days, with no time off requested during the first or last week of the contract
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated
  • Former staff of the health system must have a 7-month separation before returning as a traveler
