Description

American Traveler is hiring an Emergency Department RN for a Level I Trauma Center requiring urban trauma experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

  • Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department, combined adult/pediatric
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required
  • Epic charting system used

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required in hand
  • Minimum 1 year of ED experience required, 2 years preferred
  • Prior experience in an urban, Level I Trauma ED required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS
  • Preferred certifications: TNCC, CPI
  • Skilled in trauma care including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputations, and shock/trauma management
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG
  • Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
  • Experience managing respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilated patients, and ABG interpretation
  • Experience with neurological emergencies including CVA, TBI, and spinal cord injury
  • Experience managing psychiatric and behavioral health emergencies
  • Pediatric emergency care experience required
  • Orthopedic trauma and splinting skills required
  • Triage and isolation precautions/PPE proficiency required

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency care across a broad range of medical, surgical, trauma, and psychiatric cases
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days, with no RTO during the first or last week of the contract
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former UChicago Medicine or Ingalls permanent staff must have been separated for at least 7 months before returning as a traveler
  • Block scheduling requests are not accommodated
  • Pending licenses are not accepted
