Travel Emergency Room RN Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse license in Texas or a valid compact-state license in hand at the time of submission
  • At least 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Level I trauma experience required; Level II trauma or community hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Recent experience with Epic charting required
  • Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications
  • Strong clinical judgment and the ability to manage multiple high-acuity patients in a fast-paced emergency care setting
  • All requested time off must be provided at the time of submission

Emergency Department RN Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care for neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
  • Perform rapid triage, focused assessments, ongoing reassessments, and timely escalation of changes in patient condition
  • Care for patients experiencing medical emergencies, trauma, stroke, STEMI, neuro-trauma, orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and other complex conditions
  • Manage ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, arterial lines, central lines, IV vasopressors, continuous sedation, and blood product administration
  • Interpret dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases while supporting emergency interventions and procedural sedation
  • Initiate and maintain IV access, collect specimens, administer medications, and follow isolation and PPE precautions
  • Document accurate and timely patient care in Epic
  • Collaborate with respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, phlebotomy, social services, interpretation services, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Support a safe, patient-centered environment through effective communication, teamwork, and evidence-based emergency nursing practice
