Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department Holding position on night shift, requiring 2 years of ER experience and OH or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Emergency Department Holding unit within a hospital setting
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:00), 36 hours per week
• 13-week assignment length
• Patient population includes pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Epic charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS
• Minimum 2 years of experience with ER, ER Holding, or MS/Tele required
• Experience with MS/Tele, Tele, or PCU/Stepdown also acceptable
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and respiratory management preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and use of rapid response/code teams preferred
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager, director, or supervisor and the second from a charge RN or higher; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide emergency and holding-area nursing care across a wide range of patient acuities and age groups
• Responsible for cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, and management of patients with complex medical needs
• Must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing contract due to strict credentialing timelines
• Candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location; those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
• RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Former employees eligible for travel assignments after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for travel assignment consideration
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
