Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a busy Emergency Department position requiring MI license in hand and 3+ years of combined adult/pediatric ED experience.

Details

  • 27-bed Emergency Department in a rural hospital that is a Primary Stroke Center and pursuing Trauma IV designation
  • Average daily census of 76 patients across all age groups from neonates to geriatrics
  • Staffing ratio of 1:4-5 patients on all shifts
  • Treats full range of ED presentations including chest pain, respiratory distress, mental health evaluations, OB/GYN emergencies, sepsis, stroke, trauma, and cardiac arrest
  • Unit features 2 designated resuscitation rooms, 4 dedicated mental health rooms, and a SANE-dedicated room with forensic nurse on call
  • 24/7 coverage by board-certified ED providers, charge nurses, triage nurses, and house supervisors
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 18:30-07:00
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating within service line/scope of practice as needed
  • Uses Pyxis medication system and Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active MI RN license required in hand (no exceptions)
  • Minimum 3 years of ED nursing experience required
  • Combined adult/pediatric ED experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC
  • CPI certification preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • 1:4 patient ratio experience required
  • Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and IV starts
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation administration
  • Proficient in CPAP/BiPAP management, ABG interpretation, and care of ventilated patients
  • Experience with CVA, neuro-trauma, traumatic brain injury, and ortho-trauma cases
  • Experience with gunshot wounds and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Two professional references from within the last 24 months required
  • SSN, DOB, and AHA certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency nursing care across the full spectrum of patient ages and acuities
  • Navy scrub color required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted
  • Previous perm staff must have a 1-year break in service before returning as a travel candidate
  • Requested time off of 7+ days requires manager approval; no time off permitted on holidays or the days before/after holidays
  • Floating to other units and/or facilities is an expectation for all travelers
