Description

American Traveler is hiring an ER Float RN for a West Valley Arizona hospital network requiring AZ or compact RN licensure and at least 2 years of ER experience.

Details

• Acute care Emergency Department setting, floating between multiple satellite ER locations (Goodyear, Camelback, Mesa, Glendale, Surprise) with a home base facility
• Advance schedule provided so traveler knows reporting location for each shift
• One of only 2 RNs on staff at satellite locations
• Patient ratio of 4:1
• Uses Cerner EMR
• 12-hour night shifts on an every-other-weekend schedule
• Vent-capable unit
• Lab draws performed by ER staff, no dedicated IV team
• No floating required beyond the West Valley float zone locations

Requirements

• Active AZ state or Compact (NLC) RN license required, pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required, TNCC preferred (CPI preferred but not required)
• BSN not required
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start (2 attempts maximum)
• Must pass a Sim Lab skills assessment on Day 1 of orientation, including Foley catheter insertion and port-a-cath insertion competencies
• Must maintain sterile field technique during skills testing
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• COVID declination accepted for medical or religious reasons

Additional Information

• Floor-specific orientation provided, with 12 hours of orientation
• Scrub color required: Galaxy Blue
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to meet local residency requirements
• Failing the second attempt of the dysrhythmia or sterile technique exam results in ineligibility for 6 months
• Candidates who were directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by the health system within the past year are not eligible; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
