Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Room RN for a Level 2 trauma center, requiring prior travel experience and EPIC proficiency.

Details

• Level 2 trauma emergency department with 44 beds/suites
• High-volume ED with average daily census of 190-200 patients and fast discharge turnover
• Occasionally holds inpatient admissions when capacity is limited
• Travelers triage ambulance patients at bedside
• Patient population includes STEMI, stroke, syncope, weakness, trauma, and falls with a high elderly demographic
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
• Support staff includes ER Techs (2-3 days, 4-5 evenings, 2 nights), Physician Assistants, transporters, and 24/7 phlebotomy
• RT manages all ventilators, breathing treatments, and ABGs; Respiratory and Anesthesia support available 24/7
• Uses Epic for documentation and Pyxis for medication management
• Special equipment includes art-lines for trauma, Hospira infusion pumps, and pediatric syringe pumps
• 12-hour rotating shifts covering evenings and nights (1p-1a, 3p-3a, 5p-5a, 7p-7a) with varied start times
• 36 hours per week over a 13-week assignment
• Every other weekend required
• No floating, charge duties, or on-call requirements
• One major holiday coverage required

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA only or ENPC), and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Room experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required, ideally 1-2 previous assignments
• EPIC experience required, with prior work history documenting EPIC use
• Strong ER experience and superior clinical references required
• CEN, TNCC, 3-5 years of experience, trauma experience, and pediatric experience strongly preferred

• Must be able to critically think and manage a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Patient population is well-educated and vocal about care quality, requiring strong focus on patient experience and nursing excellence
• Orientation includes 2 ED shifts (24 hours total) plus one shift with an educator (4-6 hours)
• Dress code requires professional scrubs in any color (no denim), non-skid closed-toe shoes, minimal jewelry, and neat hair/facial hair
• Nail polish must be chip-free with no gels, acrylics, or extensions
• Strong teamwork and positive attitude expected
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility
