Job Summary
Emergency Room registered nurse (RN) position in Peoria, Illinois. This role involves providing critical care to a diverse patient population, from newborns to the elderly, in a Level 1 trauma setting. The RN will be responsible for managing a wide variety of patient conditions, including trauma, cardiac events, strokes, and other emergencies, with an emphasis on teamwork and clinical proficiency.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour evening shifts from 1:00 PM to 1:00 AM, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Illinois license or confirmation that application process has been initiated, BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC certifications, a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, and at least 1 prior travel assignment
- Department: Emergency Room (ER)
- Trauma Level: Level 1
- Bed count: 65 all private, with 2 trauma bays
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:3-5, variable based on acuity or department needs
- Common Patient Types: Wide variety, including critically ill patients, stroke, cardiac arrest, trauma, and elderly patients.
- Experience or Skills Needed: Proficiency in vasopressor and cardiac drip titration; experience with critically ill patient care is preferred, along with SANE RN experience being advantageous.
- Staffing & Operations: Minimum of 3 attendings at all times, charge nurses handle incoming patients and department needs, house supervisor available 24/7, ED techs with a ratio of 1:9, respiratory therapists assist with ventilators and related equipment, and nurses are expected to interpret monitor rhythms.
- Additional Responsibilities: Drawing labs, troubleshooting ventilators, and managing emergency equipment.
- Floating: Rarely required, typically performs as help all on other units if floated.
