Job Summary:
Emergency Room Nurse in Peoria, Illinois. This position involves providing comprehensive emergency care in a Level 1 trauma center. The role demands proficiency in managing a wide variety of critical patients, including trauma, cardiac, and stroke cases, with responsibilities that encompass advanced patient assessment and intervention.
Job Details:
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Certifications and Education: Must possess BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, TNCC certifications, and an Illinois license or confirmation of application process.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is preferred; prior travel experience is advantageous.
- Unit Notes: Local rate applies to clinicians with permanent addresses within 50 miles. Orientation includes 12 hours of non-billable hours.
- Patient Care: Handle all patient demographics, including newborns to elderly, with a wide range of medical complaints. Skilled in titrating vasopressors, cardiac drips, antihypertensives, and managing critically ill patients.
- Department Details: The ER maintains a patient nurse ratio of approximately 1:3-5; staffing includes emergency physicians and mid-level providers, with a minimal of 3 attendings at all times.
- Support Staff: ED techs with ratios of 1:9, respiratory therapists for ventilator equipment, and nurses qualified to interpret monitor strips.
- Additional Responsibilities: Draw labs, troubleshoot respiratory equipment, and manage critical drips. Float to other units is rare and typically as a 'help all' role.
- Schedule & Requirements: No day/night rotation; scheduled for 12-hour night shifts. Every other weekend and holiday shifts are required with flexible scheduling options.
