Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma Center, requiring 2 years of ED experience and multiple advanced certifications.

Details

  • Level III Trauma Center with 375 licensed beds, including 46 ED beds (5 Safe Psych rooms; Fast Track with 4 hallway spots and 1 room)
  • Average of 200 patients per day
  • Patient population spans peds to geriatrics, including trauma, GSW, sepsis, COVID, STEMI, stroke, DKA, mental health, respiratory issues, and high acuity medical cases
  • High geriatric population, primarily falls and STEMI
  • No invasive neuro procedures such as craniotomies performed
  • Limited pediatric cases, typically transferred to Mary Bridge
  • Day shift ratio of 1:4-5, with ability to flex to 5 based on acuity and staffing
  • Charts in Epic, uses Alaris and Pyxis systems
  • Central and bedside telemetry monitoring at the nursing station with no dedicated tele tech
  • 12-hour Mid/Night shifts, including Day 0700-1900, Night 1900-0700, and Mid shifts of 1100-2300 or 1500-0300
  • Mid/Night submissions predominately scheduled for night shift (1900-0700)
  • 36 hours per week
  • Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs
  • Schedules provided three weeks at a time, distributed about 10 days in advance
  • No floating required
  • No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, CPI/MOAB
  • Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV skills, and ED drips/medication administration
  • Experience with procedural sedation, blood administration, and cardiac medications required
  • TNK administration experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Must complete and pass Traveler Telemetry Competency exam prior to start

  • Charge nurse rarely takes a patient assignment
  • Two-day orientation including NEO, EPIC training if needed, time in mental health area and front area, followed by a 12-hour shift with a preceptor
  • Holiday coverage required for 2 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Any professional scrub color accepted
  • Modest piercings (studs only) permitted; tattoos must not be offensive
