Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license in Virginia
• At least 1 year of recent Emergency Department or Emergency Room nursing experience; 1–2 years preferred
• Current ACLS, BLS, NIH, and CPI/Handle with Care certifications
• Current PALS or ENPC certification
• Demonstrated ability to provide safe, efficient, evidence-based care in a fast-paced emergency setting
• Willingness to complete required onboarding, screening, and compliance documentation before the start date
• Travel nurses must reside at least 60 miles from the assignment location to qualify for travel status

Emergency Department Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Assess, triage, and provide evidence-based nursing care to emergency patients across the lifespan
• Recognize changes in patient condition and respond promptly to urgent and emergent needs
• Care for patients presenting with cardiac, pulmonary, medical, traumatic, and behavioral health conditions
• Administer medications and treatments, monitor patient responses, and document care accurately in Medhost
• Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Support emergency procedures, patient stabilization, transfers, and discharge planning
• Maintain a professional, positive, and compassionate approach with patients, families, and colleagues
• Float to other areas as needed while maintaining quality care and patient safety standards
