Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in North Carolina
• At least 1 year of recent Emergency Department or emergency nursing experience
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to provide safe, compassionate care in a high-acuity, fast-paced emergency healthcare environment
• Availability to work scheduled 12-hour night shifts
• Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and support staff

Emergency Department Nurse Responsibilities

• Perform rapid patient assessments and prioritize care according to acuity
• Provide professional nursing care for patients experiencing acute illness, injury, and emergency conditions
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Monitor patient responses, recognize changes in condition, and escalate concerns promptly
• Assist with emergency interventions and coordinate care during critical events
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment, follow-up care, and discharge instructions
• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in accordance with professional and departmental standards
• Support a safe, organized, and patient-centered Emergency Department environment
