Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring prior ED travel experience and a Compact or LA license in hand.

Details

• Level III Trauma Center emergency department serving combined adult/pediatric patients
• Stroke certified facility
• 1:4 patient ratio
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-7:15)
• Every other weekend required
• No call-in shifts required
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active Compact or LA RN license required in hand upon submission
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and CPI (AHA certifications required)
• TNCC certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
• Prior ED travel experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Skilled in trauma care including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG interpretation
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management and ventilated patients
• Skilled in IV therapy including central line care, arterial lines, and blood product administration
• Experience managing psychiatric emergencies including suicidal patients and acute psychosis
• Experience with pediatric emergency presentations including asthma and seizures
• Skilled in orthopedic trauma including splinting

Additional Information

• May be required to remain onsite or serve as part of a relief team during designated emergency events per facility policy
• Must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
• Royal blue scrub color required
• Orientation held five days a week
• Two Manager/Supervisor references required to obtain clearance to start (Charge RNs not acceptable)
• Candidates must not have worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors at this health system within the past year
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates must live more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible
